PE 10 Final Report Card

From the beginning of the year till now I have loved PE. I always have and always will enjoy it, and in all honesty I am sad to know that I will not have it next semester and or all year next year or the year after that. I will most certainly continue to do loads of physical activity, but being in a class with your friends, having friendly competitions and having that friendly supportive atmosphere always makes physical activity more enjoyable. That said I do have a plan for next semester and the years to follow and here it is.... roughly....yeaaa:
Monday- 30 minutes running, 30 minutes push-ups/crunches/sit-ups/squats.etc
Tuesday- Join Period 1 Fitness, run for my paper route, taekwondo class (1 hour)
Wednesday- 30 minutes running, taekwondo class
Thursday- Run for my paper route, 30 minutes push-ups/crunches/sit-ups/squats.etc
Friday- Join Period 1 Fitness, taekwondo class
Saturday- Work (Barn work counts as fitness), 30 minutes running, 30 minutes push-ups/crunches/sit-ups/squats.etc
Sunday- Work, 30 minutes running, 30 minutes push-ups/crunches/sit-ups/squats.etc
This may change based on day-to-day scheduling, but that is the main idea. I have balanced it with running being my cardio and push-ups/crunches.etc being my strength training for each day.

This has been one of my most successful PE years leadership-wise, I would say anyways. I always have my PE strip and am always ready to work hard in class. Even when I say "Welp I'm going to die" for fitness I am still smiling, energetic and ready to go and I think that is something I contribute to the class. I may run around like and eegit, screech out random things and do slightly interesting things (To be discrete), but I know that it gets my friends excited to work with me and be a part of the class and I see other people get at least a little more into whatever activity we're doing. I also like to be competitive with Jaskiran, which works well to keep both of us motivated no matter what. As for my leadership points, which I was supposed to start this paragraph off with, but oh well here it is now. I have become much more comfortable with stepping forward in class, I have organized or helped organize 3 soccer set-ups during choice and always help set up the nets for volleyball and take them down as well. I am also comfortable telling people to be quiet when I know the class isn't listening. As well if I see some one struggling during fitness or anything I like to encourage them with a smile or a "Come on, keep going :)", or slow down for a bit to get them motivated again.

Fitness is my favourite part of PE and I always try my hardest and push myself as far as I can each time, but my biggest barrier for this year has been being injured. I still manage to try my hardest and get a good, beneficial work out from every fitness class, but after 7 1/2 years of taekwondo and 9 years of horseback riding along with various other day-to-day physical activities I am paying for it all :P so sometimes I have to not go as hard as I want to because of injury or possibility of injury, but I feel that I have managed quite well for the most part for this year. I would say that is really my only barrier in how hard I try during class and fitness. One of my strengths I would say is not only motivating others, but keeping myself motivated as well. Whenever I reach my barrier where I have to push myself I start to have a mental conversation with myself (This is normal I swear!..I think.. maybe...YES, YES IT IS) to distract myself from anything else going on and when that stops working I set mini goals. For example on the beep test I set my goal to be the next .5, then once I've reached that the next level and then the next .5 until I really cannot push myself any further. That said, I guess goal setting would also be another one of my strengths. Continuing on the topic of goals, one goal I have before the semester is over is to reach somewhere between a 12 and a 13 on our final beep test. I know I can do it, so to achieve this I just need to have that mental conversation with myself and not stop. I know for sure I will be motivated as this is the last beep test and I really want to end off with one of my highest score yet. However something I need to improve on is being slightly less random as I'm sure not everyone enjoys it, my social skills aren't exactly the best so that is one of the things I would say I need to focus on for the future.

As most people know I do taekwondo outside of school and am a 3rd Degree Black Belt, which is one of my biggest fitness activities outside of school. I also do English horseback riding, which IS a SPORT! :P I also do barn work to pay for my riding lessons, which I would say counts as strength training haha :). I also like to go to the YMCA and run on the treadmill or roof track for 30 minutes when I get the chance. My lifestyle outside of class is fairly fitness filled. I also do a paper route, where my goal is to not stop moving running for more than a minute or two. I like to turn everything into a fitness competition, I have had a push-up, plank and wall sit competition in my planning class and have worked out with my step brother's father when he was visiting from the UK. As I'm sure anyone who has been in my class can say, for the most part I have fairly high energy levels... although that may just be my high randomness levels, but.. ummm.. same thing!! :D

One of the things I have not enjoyed this year, would have to be the blog, and as you can probably see I haven't done to well to keep it updated. I think it feels too much like a chore and I would much rather just do PE and write my scores down on a piece of paper in a folder. Which could be done on the blog, so maybe this is just because I am no into social network that much even though we are entering a technological generation. I guess I am slightly behind, well  no I know I am, because my mum uses social network more than I do, but yeaaaa there's another goal right there for next year. And something I know hardly anybody will agree with me on is that I would love to have a fitness week where everyday is fitness for an entire week :), but that's just my hyper, PE loving, weirdness talking I'm sure :P. That said fitness activities such as the 30 minute run. beep test, modified beep test, the non-partner and non-equipment locomotion and the partner and non-partner circuit were one of my favourite parts of this years PE.

I am not the most social person believe it or not so one thing I really learned this year, more than any other year, is how much a supporting and friendly environment can really up your energy and spirits and really keep you motivated. I am going to Semiahmoo Secondary next year as I got into the IB program there and one thing I really hope will be there is the same environment that there is here at Sulli. I love all the friendships I have made with everyone, even the teachers and I really hope I can have a similar environment at Semi. This year I became more open and social and really noticed how much a great atmosphere can change things and I really appreciate the environment and atmosphere our class has had this year.

Beep Test Scores:
Beginning- 9, 20 push-ups, level 4 flexibility, 13 T-test, 1 minute plank,
Middle- 10, 25 push-ups, level 5 flexibility, 12.6 T-test, 1 minutes 25 seconds plank
End- 11 and 9 (Did both) 30 push-ups, level 5 flexibility, 3 minutes plank

I can also do 50 sit-ups non-stop, 50 crunches non-stop and 30 V-sits which was one of my goals at the beginning of the year. I was also able to get past 10 and t reach number 3 again on our last partner circuit which shows improvement not only of me, but my partners Rebecca, Jaskiran, Anastasia, and Rushmital.

All this being said I believe I have proven that I deserve an A and 91% as I have been a better leader since my mid-term report card.

Leadership Report Card

This is my first year taking leadership as a class and I can already see myself growing as a leader. I said in the beginning that I wanted to become more involved with in the school and I most definitely have. I have become one of the announcers for the daily announcements, I was recently one of the MCs for the Remembrance Day Assembly along with Thara and Kevin, I have continued co-running the GSA with my friend Alex and even help organize and sort of MC Sullivan's first ever Whisker Wednesday. Along with the rest of the class I have removed brambles near the school pond and planted trees and Salmon Berries in their place, and organized group bonding exercises for the grade 8s on their grade 8 day. This is more school involvement that I have ever done and I am very happy with this. Not only have I been part of the class organized activities, but I have also volunteered for any special events that were optional, such as MCing the Remembrance Day Assembly. In class I like to come up and help organize things such as the setting up of the Whisker Wednesday and the writing of the "As Sullivan Leaders We Value" thing. Outside of school I volunteer as well, this is were my passion for LGBTQ issues really shows as all my outside involvement is in this area. I am part of a LGBTQ Advocacy group that does workshops for schools on things such as Homophobia, Healthy Relationships, Sexual Identities and Orientations and Homelessness. Last year I presented a presentation on Healthy Relationships at Earl Marriott. Lately along with my friends Caspar  Caroline and Alex I have been developing a presentation on Sexual Identities and Orientation. For the past 3 years I have also volunteered at the Surrey Pride Festival, being a runner for the venders  and helping out where ever I am needed. One other project I am starting outside of school is a Surrey Trans Youth action, it is still in slow progress, but the idea is to eventually raise a lot of awareness for transgender youth in Surrey and help make their lives easier. Obviously I am not alone on this project and I have reached out to one of my community involved contacts to help me set this up. Some things of improvement for me would be to be more of a leader in P.E, because I feel as if I seem to fall behind in that aspect and widen my volunteering areas outside of school as well as continue on my goal of being more school involved. However I feel that I have grown massively as a person and a leader since joining leadership and would put my grade at somewhere between 90% and 93%, as for my work habits I think I deserve a G, I am always there and ready to work and get going and prepared for whatever our activity is for the day. This has been my first blogged leadership report card, thanks for reading Byeeee.

P.E. 10 Report Card

So this I just started getting used to deciding my own grade and now percentages have been thrown at me. -.- I do not believe I enjoy this, but oh well that would be the awkwardness of my life XD. Lets start shall we? Basically P.E. is my favorite class because I can run around like a complete eegit or act like a normal person. I definitely would say I participate in P.E, I like getting into the games and fitness is my favorite day(s) of the week. I think I get unnaturally excited for fitness sometimes, but that means I always try my best in fitness. I would like to say that I get people motivated to keep running or playing, whatever we are doing in class and that I can make people smile and like P.E. a bit more for maybe a split second, but then that would be for them to decide. So TELL MEHHH!!! MWAHAHA... I mean HI! Continuing as a leadership role in P.E I can get people to shut up, and listen, and I know how to organize things, for the most part. I usually help set up, if helping out will actually speed things out and I try my best to avoid slowing things down during set ups. Although I feel that, as I am in a leadership class I should probably be a bit better here, but I guess that becomes a goal for next term then.

(Since my mind has no order I decided to do paragraphs)

Practically on a different note, I am always prepared for class, with my P.E. strip. As for food, all I really have to say, is I like salad or light wraps before P.E, because you don't really feel them afterwards (I swear that made sense OK??!!!) and yea, but nothing big otherwise you DIE!! I would have to say that my biggest barrier would be that my joints are absolute crap. Basically everything crack and pops and shifts so sometimes I cannot reach my full capacity because I don't want to get injured. Sometimes my mind is a bit of a barrier, because if I'm tired or stressed it's harder to push myself when I start to leave my comfort zone. (Wow this just got serious guys... or not) As I said earlier I love fitness, but I also really like our class, because everyone contributes to a great atmosphere which makes P.E. much more enjoyable. The only thing I would like to have is like a fitness week, where everyday is fitness and stuff like that, but I'm pretty sure most people would not be very happy with me for that so yeaaaa...

In this disorganized blob of a report card I shall now talk about my strengths, weaknesses, etc. I would say that my strengths are encouraging others and keeping myself going as well as being an active person in the class. Weakness would be that some days I just seem to lose this and fall into the background as some one who stands around and does nothing. So to improve on this I will focus more on what I'm doing and the beginning of class and make sure that I don't fall. My one other thing to improve on is leadership as I find, I am not taking as many opportunities as I should be in the class. Something I find that pushes me further during fitness is the positive attitude of people around me, I started noticing this in grade 7 when I wanted to try hard, but nobody else did so then it was really awkward and I didn't want to, but now with teachers explaining it I'm really starting to notice how much the attitude of the class can affect you. I think our class is good at this, we seem to be a very positive class and get into the games and fitness for the most part, which makes me happy. I don't think I've had a class this positive about P.E. since grade 3 where everyone was an energized bundle of hyperactivity and just ran around like eegits. Which is basically what I do in class now, this is possibly not all good, but I'll see how it works out and what I should change about that. It's only been 2 months I still have time to figure out who I am in P.E. and to change my goals if needed. Lastly, I am thinking of doing P.E. next semester by joining one of the first block classes, if I'm allowed. I think that is all I have to say for this report card.

With all this said I hope it justifies my grade/percentage and that habit thing (GSN)
Grade: A 90%
Habit thing: G

P.S. I realize this probably is very disorganized and badly written and I apologize, for these blogs I like to just write things as they enter my head which turns into that ^, I hope it still makes sense. Since I don't know how to organize it/ I don't want to touch something that could mess it up because blogs and I don't seem to get along very well. Feel free to critisize the writing or any aspect of this. Hope the video works, thanks byeee.

.So it looks like this video might load now so I thought I might as well attach it my report card. It is only half of my form, but yea. XD

30 For 30 x2

So with the fitness I have discovered a slight flaw in my goals, but I have also solved it so YAAAY!! (I do that too much.) If you look up about 3 line you will see that fitness was 30 for 30 and as we have done this previously I had some goals to accomplish, however as I was focusing on completing the activities I did not think to count my reps for each activity. My temporary solution for this is to go with how I felt afterwards since I am supposed to know myself best. Right? However I did remember to pull out my phone so unannounced goal accomplished!!! Anyways, back to somewhat of a point in my earlier post for 30 for 30 I said that my goal was to achieve more reps for each activity and I do feel that I did push myself harder during this activity and try to go faster. For the most part I would say I reached my goal to a certain degree, but the goal still stands and I still hope to put in more reps for each activity the next time. As I am now sitting here typing random words that you may or may not waste your time reading, I will go ahead and say that this is the end of this post. Enjoy the following videos and have a magical whatever is appropriate for the time of day that you are reading this. XD

Since these never get names (Poor activities :() I shall give them some!

Front Kicks:

Both sides? Okay click or don't click it's the same thing, I just don't feel like deleting it after waiting 20 minutes for it to load.

This is as far as my wifi made it so there may or may not be another video uploaded sometime in the future.

Cross Country

For some odd reason I decided that running outside for 30 minutes every week for about 6 weeks, up and down hills on gravel and forest paths would be fun. This is also known as cross country. YAAAY!!! Anyways, back to the point, this takes not only physical fitness, but mental fitness, because it involves a lot of self pep talks to keep yourself going throughout the race. At least I think so, however I could be the only one that has mental conversations when I run, but I'll pretend like I am not for the sake of this post. YAAAY number two. Since pictures was not exactly the top thing on my mind as I was doing this I am going to post links/pictures of the results. I feel that I did fairly good, for the most part. It definitley challenged me and, until I got druchet in the BCs on Saturday it was fun as well. Yes this implies that getting drenched for 22 minutes was not my definition of fun. I only have my times for Fraser Valley's and BC's (24) and (22). I do not have pictures of these, but my placing should seem reasonable with these times. I am definitely planning on doing cross country again next year and would encourage others to do the same since Sulli only had 4 grade 8 girls and 3 Jr. Girls and NO boys this year!!! To those who did participate YAAAY!!! (If you ever find this. Which you probably won't, so ummm yea...)

This is the first run I did. The person spelt my last name wrong I am Jasmine Braede. Ummm WHAT? (Distance: 4km)

So these are the results of the second run and apparently even if I have a sticky with my name written on it people still can't spell my name since I am still Jasmine Braede. (Distance 4.2km)

This was the 3rd race and ran and they finally learned how to spell my name!!!!! (Distance: 4.6km)

These are the results for the 4th race. Hardly anybody showed up.... (Distance: 4.8km)

This was the Big Rock race. (Distance: 4.3km) Why is it shorter???!!!!

This was Fraser Valley's. My phone screen was too small to capture the fact that there was actually 116 people in this race. SOOOO MANY HUMAN BEINGS!!!! (Distance: 4km)

The last race I ran was the BC Championships, I haven't found the results for that yet, but it was 4.3km and my time was 22 minutes.

Taekwondo(Re-done)

This is my 3rd Degree form. It's a major balance form and involves a lot of focus. I have been doing Taekwondo since August 2006 (Over 7 years), I am currently a 3rd Degree Black belt. This form is actually still new to me and there is much improvement still needed. Next year when I have my passport I will be going to ALL tournaments in hopes of getting into Top Ten and getting District Champ or Canada Champ. I doubt I'll get Canada Champ though since this is will be my first time competing at the country/worldwide level, but I may get District Champ. Only students in leadership can compete for Canada or World Champ because the only way you can get points is by being in leadership. I've been in leadership since 2009. Leadership is a class/group for students that wish to become instructors. For each level of teaching you get a collar on you uniform jacket. I have a red/black collar which is the first official level for juniors as you start out with a red/blue/white collar for level 0. To get this collar it is necessary to pass a teaching test, I took this test last year. It involves teaching a short 5 minutes class and trying to hit all the criteria of the level one teaching curriculum. Back to points, since I am in leadership I can earn points when I go to tournaments. The points are the same for sparring/forms and weapons 3rd place:1 point 2nd place:2 points 1st place: 3 points, but you can also get points for helping out either as a score or time keeper, which needs no previous training or for judging. I recently became a level 1 judge over the summer. This means I get a blue chevron on my uniform jacket sleeve and can judge people stances and kicks during a tournament. The qualification for this is very simple, you must be 15 or older and pass the online ATA (American Taekwondo Association) Level 1 Judging test with a 90% or higher. This year in training for next year I am going to all the local tournaments. The first one of the season that I am going to is on November 9th. I am competing in forms, sparring an weapons. I am going to post the videos and pictures from that afterwards. That's all for my Taekwondo byeeee.

Made in Bangladesh, Leadership Video

"Made in Bangladesh", a fifth estate episode about then collapse of the Rana Plaza garment factory in Bangladesh. At first thought it was sort of like watching a video about the animals that we eat and how they are abused, you get this urge to not buy from those places anymore, but when you think further into it that might not actually be the best solution. I highly doubt that if these people had other options of work that they would choose to work in these factories so if the consumer market went down all these people working in factories, good or bad, would be out of the only job they can get, which wouldn't be helping them. However, as much as we don't want to put them out of a job our conscious and human morals don't want to be part of something that makes people suffer and work in dangerous situations for 25 cents an hour. As well not buying clothes from places that use these factories is not as simple as it may seem. Stores like SuperStore have a list of factories that have been inspected and deemed a having healthy working conditions, and these are the factories from which they order, but those good factories sometimes sub contract these orders to other not safe or healthy factories without any say, knowledge or control of the store. So you may think you are buying clothes made in inspected and well kept factories, but really you aren't. I understand that this post might seem like a bit of a jumble of words and opinions, but that is because the knowledge of this is very conflicting. In short terms, not buying clothes made in Bangladesh or other places that use bad factories would put these garment workers out of the only job they could get, buying them would be being a part of such bad treatment of poor people and any attempts to only buy from stores which use safe factories may be not actually work do to safe factories sub contracting to not safe factories.
