Leadership Report Card
This is my first year taking leadership as a class and I can already see myself growing as a leader. I said in the beginning that I wanted to become more involved with in the school and I most definitely have. I have become one of the announcers for the daily announcements, I was recently one of the MCs for the Remembrance Day Assembly along with Thara and Kevin, I have continued co-running the GSA with my friend Alex and even help organize and sort of MC Sullivan's first ever Whisker Wednesday. Along with the rest of the class I have removed brambles near the school pond and planted trees and Salmon Berries in their place, and organized group bonding exercises for the grade 8s on their grade 8 day. This is more school involvement that I have ever done and I am very happy with this. Not only have I been part of the class organized activities, but I have also volunteered for any special events that were optional, such as MCing the Remembrance Day Assembly. In class I like to come up and help organize things such as the setting up of the Whisker Wednesday and the writing of the "As Sullivan Leaders We Value" thing. Outside of school I volunteer as well, this is were my passion for LGBTQ issues really shows as all my outside involvement is in this area. I am part of a LGBTQ Advocacy group that does workshops for schools on things such as Homophobia, Healthy Relationships, Sexual Identities and Orientations and Homelessness. Last year I presented a presentation on Healthy Relationships at Earl Marriott. Lately along with my friends Caspar Caroline and Alex I have been developing a presentation on Sexual Identities and Orientation. For the past 3 years I have also volunteered at the Surrey Pride Festival, being a runner for the venders and helping out where ever I am needed. One other project I am starting outside of school is a Surrey Trans Youth action, it is still in slow progress, but the idea is to eventually raise a lot of awareness for transgender youth in Surrey and help make their lives easier. Obviously I am not alone on this project and I have reached out to one of my community involved contacts to help me set this up. Some things of improvement for me would be to be more of a leader in P.E, because I feel as if I seem to fall behind in that aspect and widen my volunteering areas outside of school as well as continue on my goal of being more school involved. However I feel that I have grown massively as a person and a leader since joining leadership and would put my grade at somewhere between 90% and 93%, as for my work habits I think I deserve a G, I am always there and ready to work and get going and prepared for whatever our activity is for the day. This has been my first blogged leadership report card, thanks for reading Byeeee.
It has been a privilege to witness your recent growth and development as a leader Jasmine. You have courageously immersed yourself in so much Sullivan community and the school has been enriched grace to your infectious enthusiasm and shameless idealism. It is wonderful that you are getting so much from your self-empowered experiences. Thank you for embracing the true spirit of leadership and I look forward to continued adventure alongside your learning journey.
ReplyDeleteGreat job Jasmine :) You're always willing to help out and you demonstrate great work and I hope you continue to grow as a leader! Be forever awesome and weird ;)
ReplyDeleteIts fun being wih you in class and volunteering with the rest of the class together. You are great for actually standing up and helping people that are not recognized for who they are and I am very proud of that because you don't get a lot of people that do that and which work together to help them at that. (lgbtq is what I mean). I also realized that you are actively involved in finding out about more volunteer opportunities , plus getting everyone involved.
ReplyDeleteHey jasmine! I think that throughout the entire semester you have been the one of the best at stepping up and taking initiative. So kudos to you! You have a nice face too. Okay bye.
ReplyDeleteYou're an amazing leader. I admire your initiative in volunteering to be an MC at a couple of events our class has took on. Maybe next time if we have a chance, we can be MC buddies together~.
ReplyDeleteAnd like you have goddess eyes lol.
You are a great example of a leader! It's great that you are actively initiating and starting a movement (by creating the GSA) and all the other great things you do to help out! You have a very empowering personality and I like that you always are willing to step up and take initiative!
ReplyDeleteP.S. please check out my blog also :)
Jasmine, It is fun reading your blog. You are an inspiring leader, and I love speaking with you. You are definitely an asset to the class, and this leadership class would possibly be nowhere without you. Honest opinion, and also you have a nice face ( like Cathy said ).
ReplyDeleteIt's been amazing getting to know you and your OCD! You are always so ready to participate and volunteer in class and is never scared to put out your opinion. I wish i was like you! (:
ReplyDelete"it’s about leading the idea of taking a step forward when no one else will" Your words Jasmine, and you walked your talk at every turn. I'm posting here because I didn't find a semester-end post related to leadership but your legacy essay serves the purpose (please consider posting your legacy here btw!)
ReplyDeleteYou will be dearly missed at Sulli next year Jasmine. Your legacy actually needs no iteration because it is so palpable, even tangible throughout the school and community. Your fingerprints are everywhere! Your peers' comments confirm this. I know that you will thrive in your new environment and serve to make it a better place as well. Be sure to continue to check in with me regarding your ongoing leadership journey, even if it is in passing through the neighbourhood alley. See you around Jasmine.
